The BVoc students attended a seminar organized by Jo Jo International – A consultancy firm offering job and internship opportunities especially for culinary students for  various countries  including USA and Australia. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Gupte and Ms. Ankita Banergee

Name of the Event: Seminar on Hotel and Tourism Licences and Regulations

Date and Time: 6th May 2019, 2 pm onward

This seminar was conducted to make the MBA-Hospitality students aware about the Hotel and Tourism as part of the curriculum of Hospitality Legal Environment and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Arvind Gopal, Director, M J Marg Consulting Pvt. Ltd. Conducted the seminar. The following topics were covered:

Licenses and regulations

FSSAI License

Lift License

Music License

Liquor License

Trade Marks etc…

The speaker had an interactive session with the students and shared his experiences with them.

Name of the Event: Meeting to discuss International Collaboration with IULM University followed by a presentation to the students

Date and Time: 27th April 2019 10:30am to 2 pm

Description of the Event: Mr Alberto Parravicini, Orientamento, Tutorato e Counseling, International University of Languages and Media(IULM) Milan, Italy  and Mr Ashish Sachde, Study Abroad Counsellor visited FHMCT campus to interact with faculty members and to deliver a  presentation introducing the Italian higher education system and study opportunities at IULM  for BHM and BVoc students. A detailed discussion was held with Ms. Neena Joshi, Ms. Rashmi Koppar, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Ms. Nagarekha Palli, Shashi Sharma and Ms. Ankita Sharma.

Name of the Event: ‘Reservations Operations in Front Office’

Date and Time : 16.04.2019, 3 pm onwards

A seminar was conducted by Mr. Abhijit Kakoty, Key Account Manager at Cleartrip, for the students of the 2nd semester on significant aspects of Reservations Operations on Hotels such as:

  1. Importance of Reservations in Hotels
  2. Modes and Sources of Reservations
  3. Global Distribution System
  4. Channel Manager
  5. Marketing strategies of Online Travel Agencies
  6. Basic functioning of OTAs

The seminar was conducted at the Seminar Hall for an hour. The students were quite enthused about the topic and participated in a healthy discussion with the guest speaker

Name of the Event: Seminar on airline ticketing

Date and Time: 16.04.2019, 9.30 am

On the 16th march 2019 a guest lecture was arranged for the students of PCE – Airlines and Airport Management on the topic “Airline Itinerary / Ticketing and role of GDS in the Airline industry”. Dr. Venkatesh Raman, Director of operations at Vibes air services, was the speaker at the seminar.

The students were made to understand the concept of IATA conference areas which is a vital part of airline ticketing.  Dr. Raman also spoke to the students on the role of GDS in airline ticketing as well as the concepts of SITI|SITO|SOTI|SOTO.

Name of the Event: Seminar on Indian Cuisine

Date and Time: 15.04.19, 1.30 pm

Chef Shreyas Bhat, Chef In-charge of Hammered Cunningham Road, Bangalore interacted with the II Semester BHM students. The topic of discussion was “Indian Cuisine”. The objective of the seminar was to explain the indigenous ingredients and equipment used in Indian cuisine and to discuss the latest trends in modern Indian cuisine

Name of the Event: Seminar Eco-friendly practices and products in Housekeeping

 Date and Time: 11.04.19, 1.30pm

Ms Amandeep Kaur Executive Housekeeper of ITC Gardenia and Mr Joy Raj, Learning Service coordinator interacted with the VI Semester students on The Latest Trends in Housekeeping, highlighting Eco friendly practices and products in Housekeeping. Almost 90 students attended the seminar and were happy to discuss relevant challenges faced by the Hotel in Housekeeping operations.

Name of the Event: Seminar on the hospitality Industry

 Date and Time: 11.04.19, 3pm

The Marriott Hotels invited Placement Coordinators and students of FHMCT, Ramaiah University to participate in the seminar that was conducted at the Sheraton Grand Bangalore, where the students and faculty interacted with 17 General Managers and all Human Resource and Training Heads of Bangalore and Kochi properties.

This was a relationship building exercise where the students were inspired and motivated by all the Heads of the Hotels to join the Hotel industry. Various issues related to faculty exchange programs, internship and placement opportunities were discussed.

Name of the Event: Seminar on Tour Operator’s role, Planning and Designing a tout itinerary

Date and Time: 11.04.19, 3.30 pm

Mr Arun Kumar, Country Manager Sales from Arabian Journeys interacted with the students. The seminar was conducted to provide a forum for discussion on the above mentioned topics. Travel and Tourism Management is a course conducted for the VIII semester students as part of the curriculum and the seminar was conducted to offer the students industry information on the same.

Name of the Event: Seminar on Organisational Behaviour

Date and Time: 10.04.2019, 3.30pm

The students of the VIII semester had a lively interactive session with the speakers with Mr. Imran Basha, HR Manager from Lemon Tree Hotel who cleared doubts and myths about the Leadership qualities and handling guest in different situations. It was organised as part of the curriculum to provide the students with knowledge on Organisational Behaviour.

The speaker also shared his experience with the students on different departments like Security department, Finance department, sales & Marketing department

Name of the Event: Seminar on service quality and customer relationship in hotel industry

Date and Time: 10.04.19, 2.30 pm

To make student aware about the service quality and customer relationship in hotel industry, the placement team invited Ms. Tanushree Ghose, Front Office Manager, Lemon Tree Hotel, to conduct a seminar on Total Quality and Strategic Management for the VIII semester students. The speaker had an interactive session with the students and shared interesting anecdotes with the students.

Date and Time: 26th  March 2019 from  2:00-4:30 pm

Mr. Nipun Bhola- Cluster Manager- Revenue Management and Distribution from Lemon Tree Hotel delivered the lecture on Revenue Management and Distribution Channel Management for MBA-HM 2018 batch  on the topic Pricing Strategies

Name of the Event: Seminar on careers in the airline industry

Date and Time: 22nd March 2019, 8.30 am to 2.30pm

A guest lecture was arranged for the students of PCE – Airlines and Airport Management on the topic “Careers in the Airline industry”. Ms Ulrike Ferns and Mr Sanjay Melwani, Cabin Crew members from Cathay Pacific, were the speakers at the lecture. The students had a lively interactive session with the speakers with students clearing doubts and myths about the airline industry. The speakers also shared a few anecdotes with the students from their own experiences and travels.

Name of the Event: Seminar on  preparation of questionnaire and analysis of data

Date and Time: 15 March, 19 at 2:30-4:30 pm

Mr. Nishanth B- Founder Rectrix Technology  and visiting faculty at few MBA colleges was the guest speaker who demonstrated preparation of questionnaire through Google docs and analysis of data. Basics of SPSS was also discussed. This was conducted as a requirement for the course Research Methodology  for VI Sem BHM and the Dissertation module for MBA-HM
