“ITC Gardenia Bengaluru”
The hotel show-around on 16.01.20 at ITC Gardenia Bengaluru. The visit was to observe the operations in various sections of the Front Office department. Mr. Joy Raj, (Learning & Development) showed the students around the property.
The visit helped the students to understand the lobby layout.
He briefed the students about the 14 different luxury hotels of ITC and structure of the hotel group.
“ Ramada Bengaluru “
The hotel show-around on 14th and 18th Jan 2020 at Ramada Bengaluru. The visit was to observe the operations in various sections of the Front Office department. Mr. Syed Fazal, (Human Resource Manager) showed us around the property.
The visit helped the students to observe modern reception and the sleek business center. They were also shown the Garden Suite in which they observed a High-tech lamp system.
The Human Resource manager briefed them about the different sub brands of Wyndham and structure of the hotel group. They also observed the modern equipment used by the Front Office department.
” HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum”
The students of Professional Core Elective – I (Airlines and Airport Management) visited the HAL Heritage Centre and Aerospace Museum on the 11th January 2020 to observe and gain insights on the history of aviation in India.
” Tarkarli, Maharashtra”
A field visit was organised for the students of the 5th semester of FHMCT to Tarkarli, a village in the western Indian state of Maharashtra from 31th October 2019 to 04th November 2019. This trip was organised for the students to understand the intricacies of Front Office operations and the tourism industry. The students were able to observe and experience the process of group ticket booking/ seat allocation, group check in process, group checkout procedure, along with the overall travel agency operations, importance of time management during a group tour. The students also got to experience first-hand experience as guests staying in Homestays. The travel operator also conducted a short seminar on travel agency operations. The students also got time for sightseeing as well as participating in water sports. All in all, it was a fun trip with the students learning in the outdoors.
“The Angsana Oasis Spa & Resort”
A field visit was organised for the students of I Sem, batch 2019, on 26th, 28th and 30th October 2019 to The Angsana Oasis Spa & Resort, Main Doddaballapur Road, Rajankunte, Northwest Country, Bengaluru 560064.
The Angsana Oasis Spa & Resort managed by Banyan Tree Hotel & Resorts Singapore, strikes a balance of rustic beauty and modern conveniences. All 79 Rooms and Suites are provided with the most modern amenities. Dining options include “Sundance Bistro” – All Day Dining Restaurant, “Tangerine” – the contemporary multi cuisine restaurant, offering a select variety of Indian & Continental Cuisine, the Aquamarine Deck – exclusive venue for private functions by the poolside and Mirage the Lounge bar.
The main idea of the visit was to familiarize the students about the basic operations of a resort. They were exposed to the different types of rooms, villas and other facilities and amenities available in that resort. They were briefed about the functional aspects of the core departments. The field visit gave the students an opportunity to gain knowledge about resort operations.
‘Gokulam Grand Hotel and Spa’
The first semester students were taken on a field trip to Gokulam Grand Hotel and Spa as part of the course, Fundamentals of Housekeeping on 15th, 16th and 17th October 2019. The students were shown different types of guest rooms, pantry, housekeeping office, public areas like restaurants, banquet hall. The other areas like kitchens, stores, receiving area were also shown. The Hygiene Manager explained few SOPs related to receiving kitchen ingredients. The HR Manager spoke with them and answered the questions put forth to him.

1st Sem Students’ Field Visit to Home of Hope
As part of the curriculum of Basic Communication Skills – I, a field visit was organized for the 1st year students to New Ark Mission of India – Home of Hope on 24th, 25th and 26th September 2019. This mission was founded by T. Raja, aka Auto Raja, a name more familiar to the public, the reason being his profession was driving auto. He also served as a bodyguard to the auto driver’s union leader.
The students of 1st Year put up a lively cultural program for the members of the home which was cherished by the destitute sheltered there and volunteers as well. The students also donated sacks of rice, wheat powder, and lentils to the home. Washed and ironed clothes and old but clean shoes were also donated by the students.
The field visit was aimed at the following:
- Inter-personnel communication by way of practicing for the cultural program
- Communication with the members of the home prompting compassion towards the destitute
- Developing a sense of philanthropy towards the needy
The 7th semester students of FHMCT specialising in the course Hospitality Facility Management visited BIAL, Bangalore International Airport Limited on 18th September 2019, to understand and see the Facility Management Company’s and BIAL Facility Management departments’ scope of work and challenges.
The concerned person from BIAL took them around and delegated the right personnel to show and operate large cleaning equipment used for area cleaning. The pest control vendor spoke with the students and explained about the technicality of pest control.
The students of 3rd semester 2018 batch went on an organized field visit to Angsana Oasis Spa & Resort as a part of their Front Office Practical course from 4th to 10th September 2019. The hotel show-around commenced at 09:30 am at Angsana oasis spa and resort, Bengaluru, Karnataka. The objective of the visit was to provide the students with an idea about the resort operations in various sections of the Front Office department. Mr. Bosco, (Executive housekeeper) graciously gave us an orientation of the property.
The students of the 7th Semester who have opted for Bar and Beverage Management visited Amrut Distilleries 4th September 2019. The tour around the distillery gave them an insight into the production, right from malting to bottling their world-famous single malt whiskey.
The students of 7th semester specialising in Facility Management visited the Facility Management service providers at the University House and spent a few hours with the supervisor to understand the operations in a Facility like an institution/ University on 4th September 2019. They carried a worksheet along and collected all the necessary details.
The students of 7th Semester PCE, Travel and Tourism Management went on an organized city tour of Bangalore on the 28th of August 2019. The itinerary was planned by the students themselves. The day started with a scrumptious breakfast at Brahmin’s Thatte Idli followed by a fun-filled hour of go-karting at Patel’s Inn. The students then visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium where they learned more about the planets and the universe. The next destination was the iconic Meghana Foods where the group enjoyed delicious biryani. The day ended with a trip to the Visvesvaraya Technological Museum where the students spent some time learning more about science.
The final year students of FHMCT specializing in PCE Facility Management visited one of the IT firm RMZ Eco World, a client of VAR Facility Management company on 21st August 2019, to understand the real work environment of Facility Managers and supervisors. The students learned about the duties and responsibilities of facility supervisors in an IT firm
Field Visit to Reliance SMART The students pursuing their MBA – Hospitality Management , Batch 2018 visited Reliance SMART, Nagarbhavi, Bengaluru on 13th June 2019. They gained insight into the Inventory Management Systems followed in retail operations . They observed the procedures followed in stock management. They were briefed on their policies for sourcing, storage conditions maintained and precautions taken to prevent loss of inventory.
The students pursuing MBA Hospitality Management got a glimpse of ‘luxury’ and the facilities offered at The LaLiT Ashok , Bangalore on 1st June 2019. The staff interacted with them and showed them their beautifully furnished suites and rooms. The students saw their casual all-day coffee shop, 24 x7 Restaurant, the Pan Asian roof top restaurant , OKO , the signature Pan Indian restaurant , Baluchi and banquet halls. Their tour included a visit to their spa, swimming pool area and their sprawling lawns.
Field visit to the flight kitchen, TajSATS
On the 23rd March 2019, the students of 6th semester BHM visited TajSATS, located at the Kempegowda International Airport premises, as a part of Airline and Airport Management course, for a field visit to understand the functioning of a flight kitchen.
The students were shown a short presentation on the history of TajSATS before heading out for a tour of the facility. The quality manager explained the critical control points of processing food at the facility and explained the flow of operations from receiving the raw material until loading it into the designated aircraft. The students were very inquisitive about the operations part of the flight kitchen which was appreciated by the training manager Ms. Anjana.
Field visit to the hotel ITC Gardenia
Field visit to the hotel ITC Gardenia was organised for MBA, Hospitality Management students of the 2018 batch.
The hotel visit was organised to make the students understand about the hotel operations, product features and facilities. A discussion with the Asst. Revenue Manager- Ms. Vedika was conducted in the training room of the hotel to provide information on Revenue Management practices in the hotel.
Field visit to Carewel India Pvt Ltd, a facilities Management Company

The 8th semester BHM students specialising in Housekeeping Entrepreneurship visited Carewel India Pvt Ltd, a facilities Management Company. The Managing Director, Mrs. Bharthi Kamath gave the students an insight into the business of Startups. The variables of opening a Housekeeping Company were discussed.
Culinary Tour-October 2017
Educational trips are organised to enhance the learning of students at FHMCT. One such tour was organised for the students of VII Semester (Batch 2014) who opted for the ‘Food Media Studies’ course. The five-day tour covered Mandya, Mysore, Coorg, Mangalore and Kumta and cuisines of these regions were explored. The local community of these places welcomed the group and went out of their way to demonstrate the cooking of regional delicacies. Coupled with restaurant and market visits, the trip was a grand success and the whole experience widened the horizons of the students’ scope of learning.
