Internships in France

Rithvik S of Batch 2008-12 has been selected to do his internship in Vatel, Nimes in July 2010.
Dheeraj Shetty of Batch 2008-12 has visited France from July 2009 to September 2009.

“To experience all that I have read about France is rightly a dream come true. For me, a hotel management student at the M S Ramaiah College of Hotel Management, a two month internship in France is the most wonderful of opportunities”, says Dheeraj Shetty a student of the Second Year in the college.

For the year 2008 - Keertana Ganesh Moolya of the First Year and Brinda Vinod Kumar of the Second Year represented the College at Vatel, in Nimes this year. They gained exposure in Restaurant Provencal and Resaurant Palmier , their respective kitchens, Housekeeping and The Pattisserie.

Students of  III Semester, M.S.Ramaiah College of Hotel Management were the chosen ones to do a 6 week internship at Vatel, France beginning from 1st of August 2007 from a candidate base of over 2000 students from hospitality management colleges all over India. After a successful Internship they have returned to share their learning with their fellow classmates.

Women Harassment Cell

Meeting held on Tuesday, 5th August 2008. It was attended by all the female faculty members, students and attenders. It was conducted by Ms. Neena Joshi, Academic Head who created awareness about the laws which protect women.

Industrial visits

11th February 2010
Final year food and beverage specialization students got a firsthand experience in wine making last month when they went for an educational excursion to Sula vineyards in Nashik, Maharashrtra. The visit included a guided tour of the vineyards, winery and cellar rooms. Students also got a taste of all the top brands produced by Sula, in an exclusive tasting session which took place at the picturesque Sula tasting room, overlooking the lush green vineyards. The evening culminated with a quiet and relaxed dinner at Kareems, a speciality restaurant within the Sula Chateaux.

Competitions - 2009 -10

The students participated at PES College from 4th September 2009 to 6th September 2009 and emerged as winners.

Exposure on The Golden Chariot

Kshitij, Tarun, Balachandran and Inderjit have worked on the train from 22nd Febrauary 2010 to 1st March 2010.
Unni Krishnan and Shashank have worked on the train 15th February 2010 from to 22nd Febrauary 2010
Srijith Nair worked on the train from 23rd February 2009 to 2nd March 2009. The experience was one of a kind and working on a rotel was an experience of a lifetime. The table d'hote menu was exotic and unique specially designed for a group of Japanese and British guests who were aboard the train. The standard of the plate presentations were exemplary and of international standards.

Workshops

French Workshop
Ms. Geraldine Cirot, a French lecturer from France, conducted a workshop for the students of the IV Semester. She explained the significance of French gastronomy and the finer nuances of French cooking. She also presented the different French specialities from various regions of France and the formal dining etiquettes prevelant in France.

Clubs

"The Budding Tastebuds - The Department of Culinary Arts is organising a 7 day workshop which covers Indian, Continental, Chinese and Bakery Delicacies. Also includes menu planning, table setting, dining etiquette , food presentation and the nutritional aspects of menus.

Social Commitment

MS Ramaiah College of Hotel Management is working along with the Ecumenical Institute for the Upliftment of the Dalit Community. After completing a programme on Facilities, Upkeep and Maintenance , there is a course being conducted on Basic Computer Application for a group of youngsters of this community.
